The Amazon Rainforest, often referred to as the "lungs of the Earth," is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, covering over 5.5 million square kilometers. It is home to an estimated 390 billion individual trees divided into 16,000 species. The Amazon is not only crucial for biodiversity but also plays a significant role in regulating the global climate. However, deforestation poses a serious threat to this delicate ecosystem. The main causes of deforestation include agriculture, logging, and infrastructure development. Conservation efforts are underway, but the rate of forest loss remains high.
